Responsible Gambling
Betstar's Responsible Gambling Policy
As a telephone and online wagering provider this policy reflects Betstar's commitment to best practice in the provision of responsible gambling.
All Betstar members thoroughly enjoy the thrill of punting on their chosen race, sport or event; however, we understand it is possible for our members to face certain difficulties when betting from time to time and Betstar wholly endorses Responsible Gambling.
Responsible Gambling Mission Statement:
"Betstar's objective is to provide members with the complete wagering experience. If this experience has a harmful impact on a member's life then it is our responsibility, through our Responsible Gambling Policy, to minimise this impact and encourage members at risk to engage appropriate support services."
Responsible Gambling is the conduct of gambling in a manner whereby the potential for harm associated with gambling is minimised.
The aim of Betstar's Responsible Gambling Policy is to enable Betstar members to make informed decisions about their participation in gambling and, if harm has occurred, to provide access to gambling help services.
Betstar supports and complies with the Northern Territory Code of Practice for Responsible Gambling.
Problem gambling exists when there is a lack of control over gambling, particularly the scope and frequency of gambling, the level of betting and the amount of leisure time devoted to gambling.
The negative consequences of problem gambling may include:
- The member suffering excessive financial losses relative to the member's means;
- Adverse personal affects on the member, his or her family and friends;
- Adverse affects on employers and work performance; and
- Other costs which are borne by the community.

Self Exclusion:
As part of Betstar's Responsible Gambling Code of Practice, Betstar will not allow excluded members to reactivate their account if the request is made before the nominated Self Exclusion Period expires.
Minors
Betstar endeavours to prevent underage gambling. The age of a Betstar account holder must be 18 years or older. We also recommend the use of Internet Activity Monitoring software to prevent potential gambling by minors. This software can be used to help prevent underage children from accessing internet gambling sites.
